THE SOMETIMES MISTAKEN FOR A DISEASE, BUT NOT ACTUALLY A DISEASE OF THE WEEK...PEARLY PENILE PAPULES.

WHAT ARE THEY- Pearly papules are often mistaken for genital warts which they are not they are just a growth some men get & some don’t. Naturally if you happen to find any kind of growth around your penis it’s best to consult your’e doctor to find out whether they are indeed pearly papules. They are also called hirsutoid papillomas, Tyson glands or papilloma in the corona glands. Pearly papules are little growths often found either on or under the head of the penis. They are small & non cancerous & can be pink, white or yellow in colour. They normally range in size of 1-2mm wide by 1-4mm long. Their shape & size vary between people but every papule on one person will all look the same, they will not vary in look on your penis.

WHY DO SOME MEN GET THEM- Experts are’nt completely sure why some men get pearly papules. They’re actually considered as a normal skin variation as they aren’t harmful in any way. I’ts said that uncircumsized men are more likely to get them than circumsized men & if you do get them it’s irrespective of your race, geographic locale or sexual preference. So there’s no need to be concerned if you do have them as they are very common.

CAN YOU PASS THEM ON TO OTHERS?- No, they cannot be passed on from skin to skin contact or sexual contact if you have them or either come in contact with someone else who has them.

TREATMENT- Health care practitioners tend to leave pearly papules alone because they do not cause any health problem risks. DO NOT try to pick, scratch or pop them yourself. NEVER use an over the counter wart remover anywhere on your penis as this could create severe skin irritation. Most men will have papules for a long while but may lessen in number over time. They are not a problem so they are just best left alone, just explain what they are to your sexual partner or if you’re really that concerned about what your partner might think, maybe get yourself a sexual health certificate to show them.
