With obesity on the rise, there are many ways in which it affects ones health & lifestyle but one aspect we tend to forget about is the way in which it impacts sex drive, in particular erectile dysfunction disorder. Being overweight for a man can mean lower levels of testosterone. Testosterone is the primary sex hormone in men & plays a vital role in both sexual function & libido. Which makes erectile dysfunction disorder a major problem for obese men. Most men report that sustaining a normal & healthy sex life to be too difficult at times. They simply can’t sustain the stamina they need to achieve all the desires they may have, which in turn creates issues in their relationships. Not only does being overweight affect their stamina but it also impacts greatly on self- esteem, yes it’s not only women who find it hard to love themselves when overweight but men too.

Indirectly obesity can also contribute to other diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol & diabetes. All of these diseases can contribute to erectile dysfunction by damaging the blood vessels. Since the penis needs a certain amount of blood pressure to maintain an erection, these damaged blood vessels simple don’t have enough flow of blood through them to give the desired effect of a fully hard penis. Once the penis is erect the vessels need to close to maintain the erection & because the vessels aren’t functioning correctly due to blockages, well that’s where the problem lies doesn’t it. It may also surprise people to learn that obesity is indirectly linked to infertility in men also. So couples trying to conceive where the male has weight issues often tend to discount the impact of weight on their conception.

So there are many reasons why men should attempt to lead healthier lifestyles but what better reason than to have better sex. Sex when healthier becomes much more stimulating & adventurous as opposed to being a self-inflicted chore. Which let’s face it no one wants a sex life that is a duty instead of pleasurable. It stands to reason that shedding the kilos can help maintain a much more fun filled sex life. You can get into so many more positions & when you feel great about your image it really comes through in the way with which you handle yourself in the bedroom. I know great sex would definitely be an incentive for me to lose weight if I was obese but I do understand it really is a difficult process for people to go through & we often as women forget about the fact that men have as many social pressures as women do. So all you women out there go & support your men, give them a boost & help them any way you can. You’ll only benefit in the end!!!
