QUICKIE LOVE SHACKS!
Many, many years ago, before I was married, my ex-boyfriend and I used to party on Oxford Street every weekend. On many occasions we found ourselves getting frisky and in need of somewhere to go for a quickie. Now I might be a bit of an exhibitionist and love me some out-door action, but not at 6am in the middle of winter. Now realistically the outdoors may be ok for a quick blow job but if I’m wanting some real action, a bush in the park isn’t ideal. The fact that we lived far away didn’t help things either. I mean when you’re in the moment, spontaneity kind of goes out the window if you have to drive 45 minutes to fulfil the burning desire in your loins! I’m pretty sure that my ex and I are not the only people to have ever landed in that situation and believe me when I say, it’s a frustrating moment.
Ever since then I’ve been of the opinion that Sydney desperately needs some quickie love shacks. Hotel/Motel like places where you can pay by the hour or less. In japan they have themed motels designed especially for quick or casual sex. They are completely sexually themed and even sell sex toys. They go so far as having privacy windows, the windows are designed so that the delivery of food or toys can be made without the occupants getting dressed or inconveniencing their playtime. One of the best parts of these motels is the fact that you can pay for extra time in your room from a credit card facility. That way if you haven’t finished that amateur porn you and your lover are filming, the motel has your back by letting you pay for another hour or two without having to take that dildo out of your arse!
Now I’m not saying we need to go so far in Sydney, we are unfortunately still a little close minded when it comes to sexual pleasures. But the overall idea of giving people a place to go for quick sex as opposed to becoming sexual deviates and screwing near a nursing home because that’s the most private spot they could find, is extremely appealing. The problem is that a scheme like this would have strong opposition, self-righteous bigots who would compare the place to a brothel. I don’t see how a place that caters to adults doing adult things, with consent in a safe and clean environment could possibly be a bad thing. And yes prostitutes may use these facilities and why shouldn’t they, why shouldn’t sex workers have hourly hotels they can use to ply their trade in in a dignified business-like manner?!
Just like any other business, it’s all about the approach and the marketing. We don’t need to blast what they’re designed for, we would just need to sell the benefits of the hourly rates. Think about it this way…..pilots who are on an unsure and extended layover and need sleep and rest could really use this facility. People travelling and doing a very long interstate drive might need a shower and a quick comfortable nap could really use a place like this, especially if they have children who are tired and grumpy. Couples trying to have a baby and are on a specific time clock but it’s a work day and they only have an hour window during lunch…ok that’s an extreme one but it could happen. People on a date wanting to get intimate but either live with their parents or have flatmates and want complete privacy. Married couples trying to bring the spark back into their sex lives and want to roleplay and then finally yes, sex workers who want a safe, clean and respectful way to earn a living. With all these points, I really do think Sydney could benefit with having a few quickie love shacks don’t you?
Love shack, bay love shack….i’ve got that Love Shack song stuck in my head now, you know the one by The B-52’s…what you don’t know it????!!!!
